Meet
Valentina
Valentina Chang is a Producer and 1st AD based in Los Angeles, with roots in both marketing and independent filmmaking. After graduating from UCLA Extension’s Film & TV Development program, she began carving a path that blends creative intuition with business acumen.
With over 8 years of combined experience in marketing and filmmaking, Valentina brings a producer’s mindset to every phase of a project—from development through festival positioning. Her skill lies in pulling out the key “Aha!” elements that empower stories with marketability, attract fresh talents, and align investors’ interests with a bold creative vision.
She founded Distorted Dreams to further introduce business principles and tools into the creative process, fostering teams that not only deliver, but are guided by kindness. She also contributes to the Asian World Film Festival and Japan Film Festival Los Angeles, supporting emerging voices across cultures.
A producer is a believer.
They invest in the vision.
They identify the value in talent.
They grub for resources and opportunities in a way that people don’t dare imagine.
But most importantly, they bring a team together. Filmmaking is stressful; every project is different.
A producer’s job is to make sure everyone else
gets to do their job.
A producer must be fluid, yet persevere.
Distorted Dreams Productions
designs the blueprint of films & connects the dots from ideation to influence.
By valuing partnership, we deliver more than just a solution, but what feels right.
Our
act
Commitment to Impact
Good writers start from the end in mind. When we decide to take on a project, it’s a joint venture—we’re all in.
We don’t settle for ordinary.
Betting on bold stories
We’re drawn to stories that take risks—emotionally, structurally, politically. We’re not driven by trends; instead, we want something unforgettable, something that marks a new perspective.
Creating Shared Visions
Gigs come and go. But projects take months if not years to build. That’s why we invite dialogue at every key stage. We open the door early, so we build the film together, not hand off.
curiosity for unpaved paths
Unproven doesn’t mean impossible. It might just mean untouched. For Grub, we experimented with a livestream at the end of our campaign, which raised the last 30% of our goal.
